Thanks and happy weekend.

Here are summaries from Goodreads.

Temptation of Angels - Michelle Zink

Even angels make mistakes in this page-turning epic romance...

When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world's past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel.
Michelle Zink masterfully weaves historical fantasy with paranormal romance to create a gripping tale of love and betrayal.

The Memory Palace

The Memory Palace - Mira Bartok

"The Memory Palace" is a gorgeous memoir about the 17-year estrangement of the author and her homeless schizophrenic mother, and their reunion.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
A mysterious island.
An abandoned orphanage.
A strange collection of very curious photographs.
It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

The Apprentice (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #2)

The Apprentice (book 2 ) - Tess Gerritsen

Boston detective Jane Rizzoli hasn't completely recovered from the near-death experience at the hands of a serial killer (The Surgeon) that left her scarred and scared, but that doesn't keep her from going after a copycat murderer whose modus operandi is disturbingly familiar. Warren Hoyt may still be behind bars, but Jane thinks there's a connection between him and the man the police call the Dominator, based on the way this new fiend subdues and violates his victims before he kills them. Political interference from an FBI agent who seems to know more about the Dominator than anyone else only intensifies Jane's determination to solve the case. When Hoyt escapes from prison and teams up with his blood brother to take revenge on the policewoman who put him there, the pace of this truly frightening thriller picks up and drives the narrative to its violent conclusion.

  1. This looks like a tough pick but I think I would go with The Apprentice! :)

  2. I pick Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children because it looks so unique.

  3. I think Peculiar Children sounds interesting. If I liked scary books I would read it!

  4. The only one I've read is Miss Peregrine's which I didn't love. I personally would go with The Apprentice.

  5. Well, I've read THE APPRENTICE - always love Rizzoli and Isles and as I recall, that one if very good. I own MISS PEREGRINE'S and that one has been calling to me for quite a while. Those pictures. LOL

  6. Very interesting, the two all of you have mentioned are the ones I am really considering. Even putting them last they still got your attention, nice.....

  7. I haven't read any of them, but i'd go with The Apprentice!

  8. Haven't read the first two and I didn't really care for Miss Peregrine. The Apprentice would be my choice too.

  9. Peregrirne was one of the choices for my daughters Christmas gift, but the one that catches my attention is Rizzoli. We read #1 together and would love to read those!

  10. I just started The Apprentice this week and it had me hooked from the first chapter. Good luck!

  11. i've been wanting to read temptation of angels and ms peregrine's home for peculiar children - what a dilemma - so many great books!

  12. I've only read one, the Memory Palace, and I was not really a fan, it sorta felt like two memoirs mismashed into one. I've heard great things about Temptations of Angels, and I own Ransom Riggs' book and definitely want to read it.

  13. These all look good hun, I'd go with Miss Peregrines.
    Whatever you pick, happy reading.

  14. I voted for The Memory Place! I can't wait to see what you end up picking up.

  15. I would pick Miss Peregine's Children. I'm eager to read that one some time.

  16. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was just okay for me, my first book of the year. If I had known it was Book 1 of a series maybe I'd have liked it a bit better... (darn I still need to do my review don't I.)

Tess Gerritsen's book was a good read if you're in a murder/mystery mood.

    Haven't read the others.

  17. Memory Palace is good but depressing. I would shoot for ol' Tess!

  18. All of you are great, thanks for taking the time to comment. The Apprentice won hands down. I have to be honest I have read most of my last books on Kindle and was looking for a break but with the Easter holiday it would be easiest to take Kindle with me :-)

    I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
